Acoustic imaging has brought a powerful new tool to the automotive engineer.
An acoustic camera generally consists of a microphone array and an optical camera whose data is simultaneously acquired to give a representation of the location of the sound sources. Acoustic imaging enables you to pin-point the exact position of any noise emitting sources both within the engine or elsewhere on the vehicle.
