Why Calibration Matters

Even the highest quality instrumentation can drift over time. Environmental conditions, transportation, daily use and accidental damage can all affect measurement accuracy.

Regular calibration provides confidence that your equipment continues to operate within specification and delivers reliable results when it matters most.

Calibration can help:

  • Verify measurement accuracy
  • Identify potential faults before they affect results
  • Maintain compliance with industry standards
  • Support quality management systems
  • Demonstrate traceability of measurements
  • Reduce the risk of inaccurate reporting

Think of calibration as an MOT for your measurement equipment. It provides reassurance that your instruments continue to perform as expected.

Calibration FAQs

Calibration Laboratory Facilities

All calibrations are carried out within our purpose-built, air-conditioned laboratory using specialist calibration equipment that is traceable to recognised national standards.

Our laboratory is designed to provide stable environmental conditions, ensuring consistent and repeatable calibration results.

Every calibration includes a detailed calibration certificate documenting the tests performed and the results achieved.

Traceable Calibration Services

Traceable calibration means your instrument’s measurements can be linked through a documented chain of comparisons back to recognised national standards.

This traceability provides confidence in your measurements and demonstrates that the calibration process has been completed using appropriate reference equipment and procedures.

For many organisations, traceable calibration forms an important part of quality assurance and compliance requirements.

UKAS Calibration Services

Many customers ask whether they require UKAS calibration.

UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accreditation provides independent verification that a laboratory operates in accordance with recognised standards and procedures.

While many applications are adequately supported by traceable calibration, certain contracts, legal cases or regulatory requirements may specifically require UKAS calibration.

Where UKAS calibration is required, AcSoft can arrange this service through our approved partners.

Fast Turnaround Calibration Service

We understand that measurement equipment is often critical to ongoing projects and site work.

Our calibration service is designed to minimise downtime through:

  • Fast turnaround times
  • Efficient booking process
  • Convenient return shipping options
  • Collection services available throughout the UK
  • Clear communication throughout the process

Most standard calibrations are completed within one to three working days, depending on the equipment involved.

How Often Should Equipment Be Calibrated?

Calibration intervals vary depending on the type of equipment and how it is used.

As a general guide:

  • Sound level meters are commonly calibrated every two years
  • Measurement systems are often calibrated annually
  • Acoustic calibrators are typically calibrated annually
  • Microphones and specialist sensors may require more frequent verification

Organisations with strict quality procedures or critical measurement requirements may choose to calibrate more frequently.

Sending Equipment for Calibration

For the most efficient calibration process, we recommend sending all equipment used as part of the measurement system.

This may include:

  • Main instrument
  • Microphones
  • Accelerometers
  • Geophones
  • Cables
  • Calibrators
  • Associated sensors and accessories

Providing the complete measurement chain allows our engineers to verify compatibility and avoid unnecessary delays.

Why Choose AcSoft for Calibration?

  • Dedicated calibration laboratory
  • Experienced calibration engineers
  • Nationally traceable standards
  • Fast turnaround times
  • Competitive pricing
  • Calibration certificates provided
  • Collection and return delivery options
  • Support for a wide range of manufacturers and equipment types
