Dust can be all around us, whether from a construction site, or near an airport or windfarm. Limits are typically applied by local authorities, which must be strictly maintained, requiring a reliable and accurate monitoring system running 24/7 with maximum uptime.

key benefits
Construction developments, roads and other infrastructure projects often have a substantial and sometimes long-term impact on the local air quality. One of the most common impacts is increased dust or particulate matter (PM) concentrations. Depending on the perceived risk, monitoring may need to be carried out during both demolition and construction activities to ensure that any impact on the surrounding environment is minimised.
When it comes to construction sites, it is recommended that priority be assigned to the measurement of PM10 as emissions of dust from construction sites are predominantly in the coarser fractions, but the monitoring of PM2.5 and/or TSP concentrations can be useful in identifying source contributions.
The quality of the air we breathe is fundamental to our health and wellbeing, and generally poor air quality can have an adverse effect on the environment.
It is also important to look at monitoring air quality in the workplace as it can be harmful to workers if they are exposed to elements such as dust.
At Svantek we are probably the UK’s biggest supplier of monitoring instrumentation to the construction industry and we gained that position by providing the best in instrumentation backed up with the best customer support you can get.
