Construction developments, roads and other infrastructure projects often have a substantial and sometimes long-term impact on the local air quality. One of the most common impacts is increased dust or particulate matter (PM) concentrations. Depending on the perceived risk, monitoring may need to be carried out during both demolition and construction activities to ensure that any impact on the surrounding environment is minimised.
When it comes to construction sites, it is recommended that priority be assigned to the measurement of PM10 as emissions of dust from construction sites are predominantly in the coarser fractions, but the monitoring of PM2.5 and/or TSP concentrations can be useful in identifying source contributions.
The quality of the air we breathe is fundamental to our health and wellbeing and generally poor air quality can have an adverse effect on the environment.
It is also important to look at monitoring air quality in the workplace as it can be harmful to workers if they are exposed to elements such as dust.
The ES-642 Cloud Lite brings together the Met One ES-642 Indicative MCERTS dust system with Svantek’s leading Class 1 sound level meter, the SV 307, with data from both systems being uploaded live to our cloud platform, SvanNET and noise data sets.
The ES-642 remote dust monitor is an environmental air-quality sensor designed to provide real time particulate concentration measurements mainly in the outdoor environment. The ES-642 measures particulate concentration using a highly sensitive forward scatter laser nephelometer, which has a measurement range of 0 to 100 mg/cubic meter (0 to 100,000 μg/cubic meter), TSP, PM10 or PM2.5 averaged instantaneous results.
The SV 307 is an innovative noise monitoring station dedicated for automated noise monitoring. The station integrates a Class 1 sound level meter with 4G and GPS modems. The waterproof housing of the SV 307 can be removed to access the user interface with a colour display and keypad. The SV 307 is equipped with a patented MEMS microphone with a life-time warranty.
SvanNET is an online central portal that supports noise, vibration and dust monitoring data, displayed and managed in one place. SvanNET allows users to use a web browser on any device such as mobile phone or tablet to watch real time measurement results, download measurement files and configure the station settings.
The dust system has the advantage of only needing to be calibrated every 2 years, bringing the dust calibration interval in line with noise and vibration systems. This keeps your calibrations aligned and reduces the total cost of ownership, making it much lower than other solutions available.
