What’s New in the Velo 2024 Update for Autumn?

The latest update to Velo 2024 (version 6.1.1.0) introduces a range of features designed to make acoustic monitoring and analysis smoother and more efficient. From handy quality of life improvements to some exciting new features, the Velo 2024 update looks to be a welcome addition to the platform.

Below, we’ll break down the key changes so you can see how they’ll impact your use of VELO from now on.

Improved Live Tracking & Camera Support

Scan and Paint 2D has received a big new feature, and that is the addition of RealSense D455f camera support. This is now standard in the pro version, and it’s a serious step up. The camera has a wider field of view (FOV) and integrates IR filtering to improve accuracy during live tracking. If you’ve had issues with tracking consistency in the past, this upgrade is designed to fix that.

The Velo 2024 update also includes a new live tracking exclusion brush tool, allowing you to manually exclude areas during tracking in real time. This gives you more control over your data, filtering out what you don’t need on the spot. There’s also a toggle button to switch live tracking on and off, making it easier to manage during the process.

Advanced Acoustic Analysis with RPM-Based Processing

On near field acoustic camera’s a new feature brings in RPM-based processing methods, such as ‘Order over Time’ and ‘Order over RPM’.

If you’ve been dealing with detailed sound analysis, you’ll find this addition useful. These methods allow for more precise tracking of acoustic patterns tied to RPM data. This gives you better insights, especially when working with machinery or vehicles.

It’s a feature designed to save you time. It will also improve the depth of your analysis by focusing on what’s relevant.

Enhanced Export & Data Management

The update expands your data export options, which is always a welcome improvement. You can now export data in multiple formats, including .csv and .xlsx, so managing your data outside of Velo becomes more flexible.

This will be handy for those needing to transfer data into other software for further analysis or reporting.

Backend Updates for a Smoother Overall Experience

There are also several backend improvements that focus on enhancing the user experience:

  • Customisable snapshot colours: You can now adjust snapshot plot colours to suit your needs, making reports clearer and easier to present.
  • Metadata text and axes customisation: Control over these elements adds flexibility to your exports, improving readability and presentation.
  • Flexible 3D axis views: These can now be imported, exported, and deleted individually, offering better comparison between different projects.
  • Additionally, the file export options have been upgraded. You can convert Voyager files to .mat, .wav, and .uff formats, making data sharing and integration more efficient.

With the Velo 2024 update, there’s a lot to like. Whether you’re benefiting from the new RealSense camera support, RPM-based acoustic analysis, or just the smoother data export features, this update brings plenty of value to your workflow.
