What is Sound Power Level?
Sound power is the total energy a source emits as sound, measured in watts.
Unlike sound pressure, which depends on where you measure, sound power is an absolute property of the source itself. It’s calculated using sound pressure measurements around the source and applying formulas that account for area and distance. This makes it a key parameter for comparing different machines or equipment, regardless of the environment they’re in.
