Sound Level Meters

Class 1 and Class 2 sound level meters for measuring occupational and environmental noise and building acoustics

We carry a range of sound level meters and digital sound level meters which are ideal for sound level and frequency analysis.

A sound level meter is an electronic device that measures the sound pressure level (SPL) of a sound wave. It is handheld and consists of a microphone that captures sound, an amplifier that increases the signal strength, and a display unit that shows the SPL in decibels (dB).

The Meters are classified into different classes, such as Class 1 or Class 2, depending on their level of accuracy and performance. Class 1 meters are more accurate and suitable for more precise measurements, while Class 2 meters are less accurate but still provide reliable readings.

  • Handheld sound level meters for accurate noise measurement in decibels (dB) across various environments
  • Choose from Class 1 and Class 2 meters by trusted manufacturers such as Svantek, suitable for HSE compliance
  • Ideal for occupational health, building acoustics, and environmental noise monitoring with full support and calibration services

Sound Level Meters

We are proud to be one of the UKs leading suppliers of sound level meters offering equipment that is engineered to monitor sound levels. At AcSoft, we offer a range of sound level meters from well-known manufacturers including Svantek.

What Exactly is a Sound Level Meter?

A sound level meter (SLM) is a hand held device designed for precise sound measurements. It consists of a microphone with a windscreen, a preamplifier, a signal processor and a display. A sound level meter measures the sound pressure (SPL) in Pascals and converts it into decibels (dB). They are essential to ensuring workplace safety or carrying our noise monitoring for your project.

AcSoft’s Product Range

Our range of noise level meters consists of a range of SLMs to meet the needs of different use cases and requirements.

We have the SV 971A from Svantek which is a Class 1 sound level meter which meets the strict standards set out by IEC 61672 (this is a mark of its accuracy and precision). Class 1 meters offer higher accuracy and a wider frequency response range making them ideal for precise acoustic measurements. Our Class 2 meters are ideal for basic noise assessment such as for occupational health.

Why Should You Choose AcSoft?

Having accurate and reliable sound level measurement equipment is essential for effective noise monitoring, and here at AcSoft we know how crucial it is to ensure it is done right the first time. That’s why we have worked closely with trusted manufacturers and professionals to provide the most reliable and accurate tools for the job, no matter how demanding the environment.

We are always willing to lend a hand ensuring your equipment stays reliable and accurate through our expert calibration and maintenance services. This means you can stay focused on your work, knowing your sound level meter is always performing to its maximum potential.

Applications of Sound Level Meters

In environmental noise monitoring, these reliable tools are used to measure the sound levels for noise pollution in urban areas or when evaluating sound insulation within buildings when looking at building acoustics. Occupational safety is another application to ensure workplace compliance with Health & Safety Executive (HSE) with noise in the workplace.
